Pulp Fiction #3: Vincent Vega and Jules Winfield

Vincent Vega and Jules Winfield. Vincent is fresh off the plane where he lived in Amsterdam. Jules is his new partner. Their boss is Marcellus Wallace. They are the muscle for Marcellus. They get results by killing the peeps who have wronged or stolen from their boss. They are originally going to recover "The Briefcase" from some losers who thought they could screw Marcellus over. These two Gents bring some funny argument and commentary to the film. They accidentally shoot Marvin in the face, and The Wolf shows up to bail them out of their current predicament. Are these two great at what they do? Not really. It seems like they fumble their way through the whole thing, but it is extremely entertaining. For Vincent, he is happy at what he does and doesn't see himself not doing this anytime in the near future. Jules, however, has an enlightened moment when he is almost shot, but divine intervention saved his life. This causes him to make a life change and "wander the Earth." Once again Tarantino shows his understanding of what real means. Their conversation of the coffee he buys gets me every time. Needless to say, these two guys are having a rough couple of days, only to get robbed by a couple of small time Brits. The one thing is for sure, whatever is in that case is worth protecting, and at least $1400.00. Jules will not be had, especially while wearing the clothes he currently is. They say this movie was John Travolta's big comeback. I wonder if he hadn't played Vincent, if he wouldn't have the current career he does have. Thanks Quentin for keeping an open mind about a guy, who before P F, was only mentioned as the butt of a joke about lame '70's dancing.
