Ever since Piven began wearing a suit as Ari Gold on Entourage, I've been waiting for him to hit the big screen again. I think Ari helped him find himself as an actor, and the goods was the perfect role for him. An arrogant, pompy, car salesman. He and his crew are called in when small independent car lots can't move product. he and his team use gimmicks, speeches, and really foul language to reach their goal. These speeches I speak of gets some people in trouble. The words Don "The Goods" Ready (Piven) speak before the first day of selling at Sellick motors actually insights a hate crime directed at the very funny Ken Jeong. His slogan and his business cards are a laugh riot. His team members are played by Ving Rhames, who really is able to show off his funny side, and he hasn't been home in 2 1/2 years, and he is 90% sure he left his front door open. David Koechner plays Brent who is the subject of his employers gay interests. Katherine Hahn plays Babs, a drunk seductive woman who has her sights most recently on the son of the owner of the dealership. He is 10, but has a disease, so he looks forty. Her scenes are hilarious. Don always has a goal, and he always reaches said goal. This particular job comes right down to the wire, but he cannot fail, he won't. A laugh a minute, with mostly vulgar language, and lots of nudity. I didn't think it would finish strong with as many jokes being present, but I really enjoyed every second of it. Especially Will Ferrell's cameo, where he jumps out of an an airplane, and when he pulls the string on his chute, what gets deployed? Not a parachute, but a bunch of dildos and sex toys. Good stuff. I do recommend if you are looking to laugh, look no further than The Goods!
