Definitely, absolutely one of my all time favorite movies about Presidents of the USA. Not only is about former POTUS', but different partied, embittered old men, who hated everything the other one did, does, or will do pertaining to everything. All that is good and well, but wait for what's to come. Dan Aykroyd is currently the Pres., and Garner and Lemmon are involved in a conspiracy they accidentally uncovered. They think the current President is involved in activities unbecoming a person of that office. They are on the run from that day forward and run into some hilarious situations, making fun and poking jabs at each other all along the way. The scene where they each recite the words they made of to the tune "hail to the Chief" is so great and clever. I think James Garner looking so much like Ronald Reagan really played well on the big screen. I don't know if they cast that on purpose, but it worked. As for Lemmon, he just looks "Presidential", so I do think it was cast properly. They end up having to rent a car which turns into another funny scene, which involves them having to present picture ID because the clerks don't recognize them. Their two car choices are a Lexus and a Geo. They go with the Lexus only to exit through the entrance and pop all four tires on the inverted spikes. The next scene with them bitching and arguing while crammed into a Geo Metro is Laugh out Loud. (Notice how I spelled that out, instead of the LOL lazy man's way.) The gay pride parade, followed by a B & E at the White House really round out the film with some good action. When released in 1996, I didn't care about, or know much about politics. It was funny to me then, but now, being a little more informed, it's absolutely hysterical. I do think it is one of the better "clean" comedies of the nineties. It just goes to show, you don;t have to extremely perverse, or show nudity to have a good time. Also, they had to pay for a guided tour of a house they both once lived in. Classic!!
