Hey folks, A-Bomb here. The Jester got a request he couldn't handle, and had to call in a pinch hitter. Fortunately, I watched this movie several times as a youth. By request, I am reviewing Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo. B'2:EB (don't forget the apostrophe and colon) follows an earlier dancing smash hit. Lucinda Dickey reprises her role as Kelly (or Special K) from the hugely successfully Breakin' - never heard of it? Don't worry, B'2:EB is awesome enough to stand on its on. Kelly returns to the 'hood to visit some of her break dancing friends to find Turbo and Ozone helping (is break dancing on the curriculum....you betcha) at a local community center. Everyone loves kids right? Wrong. Some greedy developer has other plans and intends to tear down the only run down, bright spot in the neighborhood. Several dance encounters ensue and a benefit is staged. Did they raise the money? Was the center saved? Well you will just have to watch it and find out. But I wouldnt look for too many deep plot lines or twists. Unless you count the crazy cool twists and gyrations by the always awesome break dancers. By the way, you'll notice that rapper Ice-T (Radiotron Rapper) shows up in the flick several times. I believe this is one of his first acting gigs, especially considering he played the same role in the predecessor, Breakin'. This film earns a rating of greatly phenomenal. This is due to a friend that finally watched The Princess Bride (name whitheld to protect the innocent) and remarked that it was good, but couldn't figure out our fascination with the movie. Got me to thinking. So, I want to rate it Phenomenal because of my history with it and watching it +20 yrs ago (when Jester was 3) and it was so good. However, given how far movies have come in the last several years, I have to downgrade it to Great to reflect how I would rate a similar movie today. The dancing is, however, a work of art! Enjoy. A-Bomb out!
