Fired up!

I must admit that when a cheerleading movie, which is rated PG-13, so no chance of nudity, comes on at 11 pm on a Wednesday night, there shouldn't be much hope of us watching it. On the contrary, it had us hooked within the first 6 minutes and kept getting funnier. We were up to 1 am and began quoting it before the end credits even rolled. The story follows two star high school football stars who decide to go to a cheerleading camp, instead of football camp. Why? To hook up with as many girls as possible. The premise has been done, but the way it is done by Fired Up! was so original-ish. The jokes were hilarious and it featured one of the best scenes in cinematic history. In order to captivate its audience by portraying how much these cheerleaders love what they do, they had a scene where all 300 cheerleaders are outside at night watching Bring It On. They are watching it a large movie screen, so everyone can see it. As we, the audience, is seeing Bring It On, all we hear is all 300 cheerleaders quoting this movie word for word. The delivery of the lines are spoken with such reverence and emotion and are spot on with how the movie was. When you love something, you do immerse yourself in it. Especially when a movie is made about what you love, this is exactly how these girls mentality would be. It was not the funniest thing in the movie, but like I said, genius delivery. I have never seen a scene show us how the characters really feel about what they do. This did. It was very predictable, but we just kept waiting for the next laugh out loud moment. It was much more than just a string of jokes compiled with no plot. It flowed very well, and I will watch again and again. A failure among critics, but a winner with NBM. It is playing non stop on STARZ this month, so don't miss it. I will buy it, as I am sure it is in a bargain bin somewhere. I may even use my own Amazon link to buy it. I stand behind this comedy, which kept us entertained with no nudity and not an abundance of profanity.

NBM rates Fired Up! - Awesome
