A Christmas Story

Deranged Easter Bunny

One of the greatest stories ever told. Just so happens to be about Christmas. It takes place in the 1940's but was released in 1983, thus adding to the brilliance of a simpler time. TBS knows what's up. They show this film on a non stop 24 hour loop beginning at midnight Christmas morning, and of all the homes (In laws, Parents, and close friends) we visit every Dec.25 it is always playing. The story follows a young boy named Ralphie. Like all kids during Christmas, there is that one gift that would make the entire year of waiting worth it. Ralphie must convince his extremely safety precautious mother and strict Father that a Red Ryder BB gun is perfectly safe for him to have and use. the one line constantly following his request is, "you'll shoot your eye out." What strikes us as such a positive point in the film is his Father's attitude towards everything. He is strict and all about business, but when he gets his son that red ryder gun as a surprise that not even his mother knew about, you really get an inside look at a Father's love for his son, and his son's happiness. This story about a kids struggle through school, a look at his imagination, and the way in which it is narrated are absolutely brilliant. Bumpuses' dogs followed by the duck and fararara at the chop suey restaurant. Like I said, all around genius film that never gets old. Easily able to watch anytime of the year. And I personally guarantee that when you are finished watching you will have absolutely no reason to say "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDGGGGE"
Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year
