Alice in Wonderland (2010)

One of the best slew of different characters ever to be together in one place. This fairy tale is unlike all others. I do regret not having seen it earlier, but alas, I greatly enjoyed it. Once again Johnny Depp and Tim Burton equals brilliance. The Mad Hatter is his most memorable character since Captain Jack Sparrow. He does such a good job being a loony. I think it would have been a wonder in 3D. The greatest world I've ever seen, not to say it's all rainbows and lollipops. It's quite the opposite. It's a dreadful terrifying place run by The Red Queen. On her journey, which she constantly believes is a dream, Alice is shrunk, stretched, scratched, chased, rides a flying hat, is stuffed in a tea pot, rides a bloodhound, and is always evading the Red Queen's minions. She is the foretold savior of this world, but she herself thinks it all malarkey. The visuals of this movie is what make it so fun. At any given moment your eyes can wonder at the images in the foreground, background, or side to side, and you will see images only Burton's mind could conjure up. Crispin Glover plays a great villain. The Queens right hand man with the heart shaped eye patch and facial scar, he is not to be trifled with. The White Queen, played by the Elegant Anne Hathaway, needs to regain her kingdom by destroying the Red Queen, but she can't do this without Alice. The Cheshire Cat isn't on screen much, but his presence is awesome. Alice does a great job of not believing then flip flopping, then being scared, then doing what she has to do for the good of the land. The final battle where Alice must fight with a dragon, and The Red Queen's soldiers which are red playing cards fight a hand to hand battle with The White Queen's soldiers which are white chess pieces is totally beautiful. I love this film which goes back to my Tim Burton/Johnny Depp comment from a few posts back.
If this had been an original story and not one remade from the mind's of Disney in 1951, It would definitely be dubbed a work of art.
