The Long Kiss Goodnight

Today's post is Scribed from out of the state from where I reside and all my previous posts have been born. Guest post by the Talented Andy.

The recent Pulp Fiction discussion made me move this movie to the top of my Netflix Queue with the Samuel Jackson link. This is a movie with a little bit of everything. It has Action, humor, and a government conspiracy all taking place at Christmas time. It stars Geena Davis as a woman who was discovered eight years previous on a beach and two months pregnant. She has amnesia and has no memory except for the past eight years. She has been hiring high priced private investigators to find out her past but eventually worked her way down to the cheap ones. Samuel Jackson is a low end private investigator currently on her case. He is screw up, an ex con, and a bit of a con artist. A break in her case paired with an appearance on the local news set the movie into action. Geena Davis leaves her daughter at home with her long term boyfriend for a couple days to follow up on lead from her past with Samuel Jackson. As the story progresses Geena Davis regains bits of her memory of her former life. You witness her transform from happy home maker to bad ass. As Geena Davis transforms you can see her taking the alpha role in the relationship. During their adventure the dialog between Geena Davis and Samuel Jackson fantastic and provides a little comic relief. They ultimately find themselves trying to stop a conspiracy/terrorist plot. I think this may be my favorite Samuel Jackson role; Mitch Henessey. It is pretty close with Jules from Pulp Fiction. Even though it is hard to miss when watching this movie you have to take note of Samuel Jackson’s wardrobe. It is a little slice of awesome. Don’t make the assumption that you can miss this movie if you have not already seen it. You know what happens when you make assumptions.
