Remo Williams : The Adventure Begins...

Funniest scene ever put on film!! (Probably not intentionally funny)
So, I was propositioned to watch Remo Williams - The Adventure begins...last night. Although this officially kicked off the exploits of Remo Williams, sadly, it never had a sequel. I had no idea the plot, but I had a very good inclination as to what I was in for. Cheese ball 80's action movie, with A list actor Fred Ward attached in the starring role. What's not to like? The movie starts out following a local cop (Ward) trying to stop a street fight, then it goes horribly wrong. He is then killed, or so we are lead to believe. He then wakes up in a hospital bed with a reconstructed face. Unsure of what is happening to him, a "spook"  from an "agency" is sent in to inform him of his situation. He has been recruited to sell oatmeal for Harold Smith (Wilfred Brimley). I kid, but seriously, he is brought in to be an assassin and he is on the job quite fast. The agency is comprised of only 3 men, and that includes him. His first job is a little ole Asian man. This Asian man seems impossible to exterminate. He dodges Bullets, fists, and body lunges by Remo. Basically this is a test to see the exact skills of Remo and to figure out what training he needs. The aforementioned Asian is named Chuin (Joel Gray is his Christian name)(yeah right). He is the master and he must eliminate the clumsiness of Remo and mold him into a killing machine. The humor is very humorous. Chuin is the joke teller of the film, and his comedic skills make Mr Miagi look like a complete amateur at joke telling. This is exactly what we should expect from this era film and I loved every second of it. It's really about the training process of Remo with one big action scene near the end. I really did feel like there was suppose to be more stories for this underrated hero, but they just didn't happen. I think we should reboot the "Bed Pan Bandit" and maybe we could get Gerard Butler to play the unlikely hero. That's just another dream that will never happen. Ho hum. And remember, if you can't run on water, you're probably not running fast enough.

NBM rates Remo Williams - Awesome
