Rambo

Between Stallone's rebirth of Rocky and Rambo nearly at the same time, I was not at all eager to delve into another extension of a franchise that had long been put to bed. Whoa, whoa , whoa! Man, I love being wrong. As with all and anything actually printed on film, I would eventually watch them. I watched Rocky before Rambo, but I enjoyed Rambo waaaayyy more. I will be the first to admit that Stallone can do very little wrong. I have always loved him, even Stop! o m m w shoot, but he is really known for two specific franchises. John Rambo was created among the mid eighties "manly action movies". He had 3 great Rambo films, then he took a 20 year break, discovered steroids, and then came back for another installment. This time around, we find John Rambo living in Thailand doing work for the locals. Away from civilization, he keeps off the grid, and wants nothing to do with pointless killing ever again. Good thing it's a movie, because that decision is quickly over turned, and he actually kills loads of people. He is hired as a guide by Christian missionaries who want to make a difference in the war zone known as Burma. He denies them at first, but doesn't want these naive ignorant people to die. He gets them down river and turns from guide to protector, guardian angel if you will. He gets them in and they finally realize how bad they need to get back out. The way John finds ways to kill the bad little Burmans are awesome. It's very bloody and violent and perfect. Like I said. If you want a trip down nostalgia lane with John Rambo and a whole new story, this is definitely worth your time. I actually need to watch it again, but for now... "Live for Something, or Die for Nothing.", or is it "Live for Nothing, or Die for Something." Maybe it's actually "Life is not worth living without potato chips." I am horrible with movie quotes. I am pretty sure one of those lines were in the film.
