You Kill Me

A brilliant dark comedy starring Sir Ben Kingsley. Ben plays Frank. An alcoholic mob hitman who walks away from the business. Not because he doesn't enjoy it, but being drunk all the time is beginning to interfere with his jobs. He still gets them done, but the details he is given on how they need to be done have become a little skewed to him. He moves away, joins AA, gets at a job as a funeral home curator of corpses, and starts seeing a girl. The girl is Laurel (Leoni). What he doesn't want to do is lie about who he is. Not only does she accept him, she wants him to teach her a few tip and tricks of his trade. What a hip lady. AA is teaching him a few things. His sponsor is played by Luke Wilson who always delivers a good performance. It really turns funny serious when he says in front of his AA group, "Hello, my name is Frank and I kill people." What's funny is no one seems to mind. I don't know if they think it's a metaphor, or what. Things with Laurel are going well, he is sobering up and not killing anyone. One day he is asked to "persuade" county commissioner not to condemn a certain property. Bill Pullman is the prick who asks this of him and he does it. The way he does it is what is awesome. In his underwear. This is one of the better written dark comedies. His former employers need him back as a mob war is about to begin, but he is settling in where he is. That is until he falls off the wagon, gets trashed, and almost kills Laurel who is standing on his front porch looking for him. His entire life is on the line. He wants to be a better person, but can he constantly fight those demons? We certainly pull for him to come out on top. This is a great movie that you will enjoy.
