A-Bomb and I spent the last two weeks marathonning through the entire trilogy. We had several discussions about whether I should review it in three separate parts as the individual films or as one long epic. We came to the conclusion it really is one long continuous film. Thinking back on what we watched I have a tough time even remembering where one ended and the next one began. It has to be one of the greatest trilogies ever made. Not only is the story crazy good (Thanks Tolkien), but its 9 hour run time moves flawlessly. Peter Jackson has to be one of the most premier directors ever. His attention to detail, along with an extremely in depth story that is missing nothing. You would think in 9 hours at least one time you may wonder "who that is?" or "what just happened?" The trilogy may be one of the deepest series ever. By that I mean the amount of characters, countries and peoples of different worlds. Elves, Dwarves, Humans, Hobbits etc... Frodo is burdened with the task of destroying the ring. Sam Wise "The Brave" is his companion through their journey. He runs into helpers and hurters along the way. Other than Frodo, the story focuses on three other individuals. Aragon the Human, Legolas the Elf, and Gimley the dwarf. These three are on a mission to destroy the Orc army while protecting civilization. They must endure so Frodo can accomplish his life task. Frodo's journey is not easy, but the hardest part is when he has to deal with Gollum. One of the creepiest on screen characters of all time. Their really is too much to talk about. It's 9 hours for God's sake. The battle scenes are the best. The Trees to the mythological elephants and trolls it is such a fun watch. If you haven't seen them, I doubt you ever will. It's quite a commitment, but if you get a wild hair, it is one awesome series of events. One after the other.
